Six Arrested After €12M Robbery on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

A team of six suspects equipped with assault rifles and handguns employed explosives to break into a gold treatment facility located in Lyon, causing light wounds to five staff members during what appears to be the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to affect the nation.

The audacious robbery occurred on Thursday late morning, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items assessed at around 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt as a result of the detonation, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for assessment, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were at the location when the perpetrators raided.

Those arrested, considered seasoned offenders, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, according to investigative sources.

A female participant who participated in the raid was taken into custody as well, officers confirmed.

“Six people who employed explosive devices in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.

The heist took place as French police on Thursday detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in relation to this month's brazen theft at the Louvre.

Many investigative personnel have been pursuing four perpetrators who used a vehicle equipped with a moving lift and cutting gear to breach a first-floor gallery at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, fleeing with precious items estimated to be worth €88 million.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently broke into the French capital's Natural History Museum, stealing gold samples worth over $1 million. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was apprehended in the current month in Barcelona, Spain in regarding the theft, prosecutors stated.

The string of thefts has raised concerns in the nation regarding lax security at cultural venues and other facilities holding high-value objects.
