Patrick Bamford Signs With Sheffield United After Leading Derogatory Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has joined Sheffield United just seven months following leading insulting songs aimed at the team's coach, Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, without a club after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract with the Championship strugglers through the winter. Bamford's seven-year spell at Elland Road was ended amicably this past summer.

Among the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds involved leading abusive chants about Chris Wilder amid the club’s promotion celebrations this spring. Currently, the former England player is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to lift his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford & Wilder

The pair had a past before Leeds moved up to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager described the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

Everything seems to have been resolved with United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement up front while Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his playing days.

The Wilder chant spread widely this spring. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder said back then: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I’ve no problem whatsoever with it. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! But I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We had a short while and the same again I talked with Daniel too and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a great person, a class act. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game at every level, even on Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with it and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Playing Challenges

Bamford made 18 appearances with Leeds United last season but the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough player has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
