Outrage as Popular South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three suspects, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested are in custody, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement said that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building near the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the building managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"It is alleged the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a security uniform opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but collapsed a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the incident.
