Heavy Precipitation Aggravate Conditions for Evacuated Residents of Gaza, Officials Warn
Intense rains over the recent period have intensified the already dire circumstances of the vast number of evacuated civilians in the region, as reported by humanitarian agencies.
"Terrible" Conditions Poses Grave Threats
A official detailed the previous night's conditions as "horrendous", with precipitation so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.
"Last night was exceptionally difficult for the residents. The downpours were so powerful... And the winds were so strong," said the representative.
Officials express significant concern that children residing in temporary structures in wet garments will fall victim to hypothermia and additional ailments.
Casualties and Extensive Damage
The health ministry have stated that one baby has died from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have died in building collapses due to the storms.
Further statements indicate a greater death toll. Spokespeople stated that multiple residential buildings had totally fallen and many others had collapsed partially.

Aid Operations Deemed Inadequate
Agencies have escalated shipments of tents, bedding and clothes after the truce began, but they have said there is still not enough aid entering.
"Agencies are striving constantly to bring in that aid and to distribute it, but the size of the necessities is so vast that we are faced with thousands of people and children who are really struggling every night," stated one representative.
Long-Term Issues and Agreement Terms
The next stage of the agreement includes proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of personnel, and other conditions.
Relief bodies have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing aid to respond to urgent and long-term needs."
The conflict was initiated by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Later actions have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the territory, according to health ministry reports.
