The Scottish side began their Champions Cup journey in ideal fashion with a valuable bonus-point away victory against Sale Sharks.

Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, Sale began strongly and raced to a 14-0 advantage within the first quarter. Scores from the Sale skipper and youngster Ollie Davies gave them early control.

But, the visitors fought back well with a pair of scores prior to the interval. Hooker Gregor Hiddleston and back-rower Darge both went over to reduce the gap.

Additional second-half scores from captain Kyle Steyn and centurion Stafford McDowall extended the Warriors' advantage to twelve points. Marius Louw's try for the hosts promised a nervous finish, but Glasgow stood strong to secure a significant opening victory.

Glasgow Seize Initiative Following Interval

The match started with a bang as skipper Van Rhyn scored from short distance after only two minutes. An early knock to midfielder Ma'asi-White introduced teenager Davies into the action for his cup debut.

The youngster made an immediate impact. Switching to fly-half, he ran a smart support line to take an offload and score, making the home side's lead.

Against challenging conditions, the Warriors turned to their forward power to get back into the contest. A powerful driving maul was finished by hooker Gregor Hiddleston. Just before the break, Darge barged over, with Hastings' conversion making it a narrow deficit at half-time.

The Scottish club took the lead for the first occasion early in the second half. A misjudged box-kick was gathered by number eight Jack Dempsey, who set up skipper Steyn to break a tackle and race away to the line.

With in the ascendancy, they secured the fourth try when McDowall ran through a defender to celebrate his 100th appearance for the team. This try capped a sequence of 26 consecutive points.

The hosts gave themselves a lifeline when Louw showed good footwork to cross. The kick made it a five-point game with time left.

A final chance arose for Sale from a throw in the corner, but they failed to secure the possession, sealing the Warriors' triumph.
