Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
