Followers Urge Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are calling for that a person who breached a barricade and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared footage shows the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile contains recordings of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," wrote an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being
Many followers blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
