It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defense and Allen trying to do too much to dig his team out of it - not the calm, disciplined, balanced Buffalo team we've seen this year

The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on if this is the beginning of a trend, but for the Bills they'll require an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East

Regarding the Patriots, they're one of three 8-2 teams in the NFL, all AFC sides, but are they the best?

You can pick holes in New England, Denver and Indianapolis really for dominating the weaker opponents, with just five of their total 24 wins coming against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Denver

Denver beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's win in Tampa to their prime time success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement

Visiting the Ravens is challenging too, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also compete for first place but face the same problem) and additionally the Green Bay on the schedule

The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the 5-4 Jaguars to face. There is a considerable distance to travel but the door is open for a surprise top seed in the American Football Conference

Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three eight and two teams are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each scored forty points to reach 7-2 before next week's major meeting between the pair in Los Angeles

They've both won four in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an high standard (although Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing under 20 points a contest
